Professional Experience

An associate with Kinney & Lange, Kumayl Lakha focuses his practice primarily on patent preparation and prosecution. This includes drafting patent applications, addressing resulting prosecution, providing recommendations for foreign patent applications, and conducting patentability searches. Kumayl works in a variety of technical areas, including aerospace, electrical, and mechanical applications, and has worked with individual inventors as well as large multinational corporations.

Kumayl graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota. During his undergraduate years, Kumayl volunteered as a lab assistant where he aided in research on nanoparticle artery heating. Kumayl went on to work in the medical device industry as a software engineer, where he focused on implantable device firmware. Kumayl attended law school and received his Juris Doctor from the University of St. Thomas School of Law, magna cum laude.

In his free time, Kumayl enjoys reading books, being outdoors, playing tennis, and cheering on the Boston Celtics.
