Part Time Billing Analyst

Kinney & Lange is looking for a Part Time Billings Analyst to join our team.

SUMMARY

The Part Time Billings Analyst will work with experienced accounting analysts to invoice our clients in SurePoint, the firm’s specialized legal billing system. This role is part time, approximating 30 hours per week. Each month you will work within SurePoint to generate billing reports for attorneys to review. After review is complete, you will finalize the invoices and submit to clients in their preferred formats (e.g. email PDFs, LEDES, etc.).  This role is opened to Twin Cities based candidates and can be performed remote or in office.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with current analysts to perform billing process within SurePoint.
  • On a monthly basis, pull billing draft invoices and cost reports to send to Billing Attorneys for review.
  • Update drraft invoices and billing records to reflect Billing Attorney revisions.
  • Process all invoices within the SurePoint system and submit to clients in their desired format (email PDF, LEDES, etc.).
  • Update the billing system for new billing codes, legal matters, and client specific reference numbers as needed.
  • Assist in general accounting functions such as accounts payable and data entry as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting (additional years of accounting experience may offset degree requirement).
  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to effectively communicate in a professional manner with attorneys, staff, clients, and vendors. 
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, & Outlook).
  • Excellent understanding of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger accounting, and terminology.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all employee & client records.
  • Numbers aptitude, detail & deadline oriented, analytical skills, professional work ethic, proactive, and problem solving, ability to multitask, and work well in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with internal control processes.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous accounting, legal or professional services experience.
  • Familiarity with legal software and the Legal Electronic Data Exchange Standard (LEDES) for e-billing.

COMPENSATION

  • $25/hour or more based on relevant experience.
